Spring has sprung!  And what better way to celebrate warmer weather and new growth than by participating in one (or more!) of the awesome events happening around Portland this Saturday? Join PDCC and your friends and neighbors at any of these awesome events!

1. MAINE YOUTH FOR CLIMATE JUSTICE

Presents

From organizer Liana SC:  This strike will focus on pursuing climate justice and examining how it intersects with social justice, racial justice, and other prominent issues our communities here in Maine face. It will take place at 2 pm on April 22nd, starting at Monument Square. You can find more information here: Earth Month Actions! | MYCJ (maineyouthforclimatejustice.org)

2. THE CITY OF PORTLAND

Presents

City departments are teaming up with local green organizations to host a festival of fun: learn about composting with our friends at Garbage to Garden, spin a trivia wheel with the Portland Public Health team, and catch a storytime session with Park Ranger Liz! Big trucks galore - see a real City recycling truck and big green trucks from the City Forestry Team! Climb inside an electric Greater Portland METRO bus! Test ride e-bikes from local bike shops and try out electric lawn equipment demos with our Parks and Recreation team! There will be music, food trucks,  facepaint, and outdoor activities for the whole family.

Don't miss this great chance to connect with neighbors and friends of the City, learn sustainability tips, and celebrate nature together in Portland, Maine.

We are very excited to put this on with the help of Portland Parks, Recreation, and Facilities, Portland Public Health, Portland Downtown, Efficiency Maine, Portland Trails, Window Dressers, Greater Portland METRO, Garbage to Garden, Natural Resource Council of Maine, Gulf of Maine Research Institute, Portland Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Committee, Portland Parks Conservancy, Friends of Payson Park, and more friends of the City of Portland.
