Reminder & agenda for Portland Democrats meeting next Thursday

A lot has happened since our last meeting in December: the new Congress has begun their legislative session, Governor Mills has been sworn in, and just today President Trump declared a clearly unconstitutional national emergency to fund his border wall without Congressional approval.

With so many things to fight for and defend against, it’s more important than ever to get involved with the Portland Democrats. Because today was Valentine’s Day, we’re meeting on the third Thursday of the month, which is next week!

This is the first meeting in a series where we will be rotating through locations across Portland, and spending time discussing hyper-local issues in addition to our regular business. This first meeting will be focusing on the East End, which is District 1 for the City Council.

Time: Thursday, February 21, 6:30pm – 8pm.

Location: East End Community Center, 195 North Street, Portland, ME 04101

Agenda:

  • Welcome & Introductions
  • Discussion: Conversation about issues impacting the East End (30 minutes)
  • Approve minutes
  • Reports
    • Chair’s Report
    • Treasurer’s Report
    • Secretary’s Report
    • Finance Committee
    • Communications Committee
    • Organizing Committee
    • Issues Committee
    • Bylaws Committee
  • New business
    • US Senate candidate forum
  • Old business
  • Announcements
  • Adjourn

All are welcome, but if you live in the East End, this is a particularly important meeting to attend. Please bring your thoughts, concerns, and ideas for the neighborhood — and please bring your friends & neighbors too!

If you’re active on social media, please RSVP and share our event on Facebook.
