THIS MESSAGE SERVES AS OFFICIAL NOTICE OF A SPECIAL MEETING TO BE HELD ON OCTOBER 3, FOR DISCUSSION AND ENDORSEMENT VOTE ON IMPLEMENTING AN INDOOR MASK MANDATE FOR PORTLAND
At our recent September meeting, a number of PDCC members expressed support for a new indoor citywide mask mandate, and requested that PDCC gather together to consider endorsing a mandate to be passed by the Portland City Council.
As the duly elected PDCC officers, we have decided to call for a special meeting to be held on October 3, in accordance with our bylaws governing special meetings. The purpose of this special meeting will be to discuss and consider a vote to endorse an indoor citywide mask mandate for Portland.
The Council recently considered an indoor mask mandate, but deadlocked at a 4-4 vote and failed to pass the measure. They will be voting again at their upcoming October 4 meeting, so PDCC has an opportunity to influence this important policy decision by giving Portland Democrats a forum to add their voices as residents of this city.
Please join us for this important discussion and vote, happening over Zoom on October 3. We want to hear everyone’s perspective on this topic that impacts all of our lives.
Charles (PDCC Chair), Joe (PDCC Secretary), Kim (PDCC Treasurer)
